Why We Write 
I hope WHY WE WRITE continues. Maybe someday I will start writing – get rid of some of the stuff that has been building up inside for so long before it all comes out in a huge explosion like vomit or a volcano or something.
Actually it’s more like this great void – every now and then a vague draft of inspiration arrives – I do nothing about it and it drifts away as mysteriously as it came…I wonder where it came from and where it went…go back to whatever I was doing and wait for the next wave…

I sent the following comment in an email message to the webmaster (I think?) and was asked by Charlie Craig to post it publicly. This is what I wrote:
“Geez, I just read Greg Garcia’s blog on “Why We Write,” and it absolutely ministered to my soul. I HATE writing but I’m driven, and I LOVE to laugh. Thanks for the fire. I can’t even begin to thank you enough for taking the time to share your thoughts with the world. Love u man! anne hughes, future author cuz o u”
BTW, to anyone reading this, some words of wisdom regarding work, strikes, decisions, life:
Don’t judge. I love that Jesus tells us “judge not lest ye be judged.” Okay, that’s totally old school language – sorry. Even if you don’t believe in the diety of Christ, there is HUGE wisdom in that statement if you believe in the concept of reaping and sowing; karma, cause and effect – whatever floats your boat. The fact is, we all go through our “stuff” in life. We all have to make decisions. We all do the best we can with what we’re given based on the facts in front of us and past experiences. As another wise man said, until you’ve walked a mile in another man’s shoes…” so if you’re criticising writers who chose to strike for whatever their personal reasons, get off your high horse and take a walk – you’ll be blessed. Peace all, cuz Jesus does love you

I’ve enjoyed reading the “Why We Write” essays, it be nice to see the website continue long after the strike ends. For people not in Hollywood or even for people in the industry, it’s good to read that we all have a common bond and to share it with others allows a shared experience not often afforded most writers, whether they’re connected to the movie business or not.
